- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry (10x15-inch ) thawed
- 1 cup Gruyère cheese or cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 lb. medium asparagus trimmed
- ¼ cup Parmesan cheese grated
- 1 egg beaten
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet to fit a baking sheet.
Place the rolled-out puff pastry on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
Score a border about 1 inch from the edges of the puff pastry, creating a border but not cutting all the way through.
Sprinkle the shredded Gruyère (or cheddar) cheese evenly within the scored border.
Arrange the trimmed asparagus spears on top of the cheese, alternating the direction of the tips.
Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the asparagus.
Brush the edges of the puff pastry with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden and puffed.
Once baked, let it cool slightly before slicing. Serve and enjoy your delicious Asparagus Tart!
- Thaw the puff pastry just until it’s pliable enough to work with.
- Be sure to remove the tough ends from each asparagus stalk.
- Use asparagus that’s similar in size and trim the ends to the same length so they cook evenly.
- Dry the asparagus thoroughly after washing it to remove excess moisture.
- For the best flavor, use freshly grated cheese.
