  • Make the carne asada and allow it to rest before slicing it into bite-size pieces against the grain.
  • Get the toppings ready. While the steak cooks, chop the onions, roughly chop the cilantro, make the guacamole, and warm or toast the tortillas.
  • Build the tacos. Fill the warmed tortillas with guacamole, chopped steak and top with onion and cilantro.

Notes

To Store: I like to store all the components separately, so they stay as fresh as possible. I recommend using the guacamole within 1 to 2 days, but everything else will stay good for up to 4 days.
To Freeze: You can freeze the carne asada for up to 3 months as long as it’s in a freezer-safe container.
To Reheat: I like to reheat carne asada in a skillet on the stovetop until I completely warm it through.
