These Carne Asada Tacos feature tender marinated steak, homemade guacamole, fresh onions, and cilantro on top. This recipe is easy, quick, and so flavorful!

My family loves tacos. I mean we REALLY love tacos. This street tacos recipe is one of our favorites because it’s all about simple ingredients with lots of flavor. Plus, carne asada tacos are super versatile, so everyone can add their favorite toppings.
I love serving this for a quick and easy dinner, but it’s also perfect for parties, summer BBQs, or Cinco de Mayo!
Ingredients To Make Carne Asada Tacos
Carne Asada — I think the best cut of beef to make carne asada is flank steak or skirt steak.
Guacamole — These tacos are perfect with my easy guacamole recipe.
Corn tortillas — I prefer corn tortillas, but flour tortillas also work great.
Toppings — I like simple toppings- just white onions, fresh cilantro, and lime wedges. You can also serve with avocado salsa.

Instructions
Make the carne asada:
See my carne asada recipe for instructions and expert tips. It’s so easy to make—all you need to do is marinate it with olive oil, spices, garlic, salt, and black pepper. Then, cook it in a grill pan over medium-high heat for 7-10 minutes.
Once you finish cooking the steak, let it rest and then slice it into thin strips against the grain.
Prep the toppings:
Make the guacamole and chop the onions and cilantro while the steak cooks.
Warm the tortillas just before you’re ready to assemble the tacos.

Build the tacos:
Fill the tortillas with as much guacamole and grilled steak as you like.
Then, top with finely chopped onion, cilantro, and freshly squeezed lime juice.

How To Store Leftovers
To Store: I like to store all the components separately, so they stay as fresh as possible. I recommend using the guacamole within 1 to 2 days, but everything else will stay good for up to 4 days.
To Freeze: You can freeze the carne asada for up to 3 months as long as it’s in a freezer-safe container.
To Reheat: I like to reheat carne asada in a skillet on the stovetop until I completely warm it through.

What To Serve with Carne Asada Tacos
Beans and rice: We love carne asada street tacos with a side of fluffy rice and beans.
Chips and salsa: Of course, you can’t forget the tortilla chips and salsa! My peach salsa recipe pairs so well with this dish.
Grilled or roasted veggies: I also love to pair carne asada tacos with a side of grilled corn or crispy air fryer green beans.
Side salad: My black bean mango salad complement this recipe so well!
Recipe Variations
Try other toppings: Carne asada tacos are delicious with toppings. Some toppings include Cotija cheese, sour cream, queso fresco, chopped avocado, pico de gallo, refried beans, and sliced radishes.
Add some heat: If you like spicy food, add fresh jalapeno or your favorite hot sauce for an extra kick.
Swap the protein: Instead of carne asada, try this recipe with my Cajun grilled chicken, grilled shrimp, or Instant Pot carnitas.
