Having the right tools is crucial to reducing your kitchen time while preparing salads. These tools for making quick salads are fantastic!
Starting at the beginning of the year, I am trying to cook healthier than I used to and when I say healthier, I mean “eat more salads”. I love salads.
They are easy to make and makes me feel so satisfied without fuelling my body with lots of calories (of course, only if you don’t load your salad with fatty dressings, right?). But, sometimes the time we spend preparing it can be more than we expect because of all the chopping, dicing, and mincing of ingredients.
This time can be reduced if you have the right tools. So, I wrote this post to show you what are my favorite kitchen tools to help me save time preparing my salads. These salad tools for making quick salads will help you during your busy days!
Salads Tools
I think I don’t need to say that the first step to make a salad is to peel the veggies. So, this peelers are my favourite for that. This set contains three different types of stainless steel blades. One is called swivel peeler. The other one is called julienne peeler that easily creates julienne strips. The last one is called a serrated peeler, which has a sharp blade to easily peel waxy and slippery fruits and vegetables like peaches, tomatoes, and plums. I have to say this set is the best to help you peel your fruits and vegetables faster than you can imagine.
Then, after peel your veggies, you need to chop them, right? So, I love this chef’s knife for that. This is the one I use every single day in my kitchen and I couldn’t be happier with it. In fact, I have used it and other Henckels knives for many years! It’s sharp, solid and had a great hand feel. I can guarantee that there is nothing better than chopping your veggies with a sharp accurate knife!!!
As I said before, to chop your veggies you need a sharp knife, but you also need a nice and large cutting board. So, this bamboo are excellent for cutting/chopping fruits, vegetable and meats as well. These boards are very easy to clean and durable to last for years. I have one of those for over 5 years and it is still working great. The bamboo material is antimicrobial, which means it prevents bacteria growth and odors. I love using bamboo cutting boards because they’re eco-friendly, which helps to reduce environmental impact to live in a better world.
When you’re done peeling and chopping your veggies, you’re going to need this scrape shovel to scoop and transferring your chopped food into a salad bowl. The first time I saw this, I thought it was a silly tool to have. But, I changed my mind completely when I was at my mother-in-law’s home cooking with her. She took this out of the drawer and immediately she transferred all the chopped veggies from the cutting board to a salad bowl literally in seconds. It was unbelievable. I remember the day after I bought one and since then, I use it every time I chop veggies and fruit. Greatest tool ever!!
5. Food Chopper: If you’re not a huge fan of chopping your vegetables with a sharp knife, you can always use this beautiful food chopper. It’s great because you don’t need power to use it. The only thing you need is your hand. It is so easy to store and to clean. You know the days that you are so busy that don’t have time to peel, cut, and chop one single onion? This tool is perfect. You just throw everything inside the bowl, close the lid and done!! How easy is that? This product has more than 5K reviews on Amazon and more than 75% of the buyers gave it a 5 star food chopper. I highly recommend it!
If you read Primavera Kitchen often you know that I love meal-prep my melas in order to make my life easier in the kitchen. We all have busy lives and if we can wash, clean, trim and chop our veggies and fruits ahead of time is great, right? These containers are great to keep produce fresh up to 80% longer versus store packaging. They also helps keep moisture away from produce to reduce spoilage and they’re dishwasher safe and BPA-free. I’m a huge fan of them.
Believe or not, I used to wash my greens in a bowl and then lay them down on a paper towel and dry then manually. Oh Gosh I use to hate to make green salads just because of this process!! I am not kidding. I thank whoever created this product. It is such a timer saver! I also love a tool that has more than one utility. Why I am saying that? Because it’s not only for drying your leaves. This spinner also has a bowl that you can use to serve your salad!!
8. Salad Bowl
When you’re done with your veggies, now it’s time to place them inside of a salad bowl. This salad bowl is gorgeous and I’m sure you will receive endless compliments. This beautiful glass bowl has an oak base that is easy to remove, making it easy to clean the bowl.
This is a tool that will help you a lot not only to serve your salad, but also to toss it really well. There is nothing worst that having a salad where parts of the leaves are not garnished well. I love this one because it has a very elegant design (perfect for serving) and it is stainless steel (easy to remove all the greasy from the salad dressing).
I also have these wood salad servers and I love them too. They’re gorgeous, made of high-quality acacia wood, which is totally eco-friendly and non-pollution. I also love that they don’t scratch ceramic, glass, and non-stick surfaces. Besides, the length of the tongs is perfect for any depth salad bowl.

For Making Dressing
Dressings are so important to make any salad tastes even better. If the dressing is not good, probably your salad won’t be as good as you expect. I love all kinds of dressings but I prefer to skip the store-bought dressings and make my own vinaigrette dressing to avoid the high sodium and preservatives that come in the bottled options in stores. My favorite dressing is so easy to make and delicious. It’s made in just few seconds thanks to my dressing tools 😉
First, one of the most popular ingredients to make a salad dressing is lemon. So, this tool is great to squeeze lemon juice. I love this one because it gets every last drop from big and small lemons, limes and small oranges. Your hands don’t get strain of squeezing fruits manually, it’s easy to store in a utensil drawer and can be washed in the dishwasher.
3. Garlic PressIf the salad dressing doesn’t have garlic, it isn’t flavorful. So, I truly need a tool that helps me to crush my garlic cloves fast and doesn’t leave the strong garlic smell on my hands. This one is perfect especially because it has a big garlic chamber (you can add two cloves inside) and the cleaner helps me clean out the garlic peels inside the chamber faster than other ones in the market.
Then, when you have all the ingredients ready to shake you can always use any little jam you have on hand. But I love this one because it’s great to shake all the ingredients together, to serve and also to store in the fridge. It blends and emulsify your dressing quickly and quietly.
