I know I’m very late writing this post about our trip to Argentina and Uruguay, but since we have returned to Canada life has been so crazy between being a mom, a wife and a fulltime blogger. And since this is a recipe blog I was concentrating all my free time creating new recipe content for the blog. Also, it maybe crazy but for me creating a recipe, cook, take and edit pictures and write a recipe post seem much easier than writing a travel post… hahahhaha! I guest it’s because I’m used to run a food blog and not a travel blog. Anyway, I apologize for such a late post, but here we are and I hope you enjoy looking at all these pictures!
If you read often this blog you know that last year we spent 6 months in Brazil, because my family and I are from there and I wanted to be with them when my baby was born. My husband could manage his work situation and he stayed with us in Brazil the whole time doing a few trips to North American during this period. It was a great experience for us and also hard for so many reasons, but in general it was so good to be there after 7 years living in Toronto.
While we were there my family decided to take a vacation to Argentina and Uruguay. I thought it was such a great idea because it’s a short trip since we were already in South America and I got to know these two beautiful countries that I always wanted to visit. Thomas was 9 months old at the time and he was very good during the whole vacation. He really enjoyed being outside. He was all the time smiling and looking at all the different things on the streets. He also ate very well during our vacation. We had breakfast at the hotel and he was eating fruits, bread and eggs in the mornings. And during the day he was eating baby purée food, fruits and some food at the restaurants too. It was totally fine and I have to say that it was easier than I thought. Of course I had my family and my husband to help me, but overall it was a great experience traveling with my baby boy 😉
Pictures of Montevideo
First we went to Montevideo and stayed for 5 days. We really loved this city especially because of the people (they are very friendly and polite) and also because we felt very safe in there. It’s sad to say that some cities in South America are not so safe, but Montevideo is an exception. The food is very delicious. They have lots of different types of meat dishes. SO good!
It’s a great city to travel with kids since there are lots of parks and outdoor areas to enjoy.
Lazy day in the park 🙂
The city has a beautiful waterfront and many trees in the most of the streets, which is great for walking.
Pictures of Argentina
Argentina is just a couple hours from Montevideo by ferry. We had a good trip from Uruguay to Argentina and I loved this city. It’s a great destination in South America and I guarantee that you’ll have a great time there! I have to be honest and say that Buenos Aires is by far my favorite city in South America. It’s absolutely magnificent. The architecture is very European-inspired and it’s an awesome city to walk around because everywhere you look you see beautiful buildings. Definitely this is a city that offers a rich cultural experience. Among my favorite places in BA: Bosques de Palermo or Palermo Woods (the city’s largest park and most important green space), La Casa Rosada (The Pink House) where Perón and Evita used to give their famous speeches, La Boca neighborhood filled with colorful houses and street tango dancers, and El Ateneo Bookstore (a theater turned into a bookstore and it was voted top 10 most beautiful bookshops in the world by the BBC. Cool, right?).
Also make sure you eat the traditional Argentinian asado. They cook some of the best BBQs in the world so it’s really good.
Since I was with Thomas and carrying lots of things for him I thought it wasn’t very convenient to carry a camera as well. So, all the pictures that you’re going to see here is from my iPhone. I hope you enjoy!
This was such a great vacation. I arrived home feeling so grateful for being able to travel with my family, my baby boy and husband. It’s wonderful to spend time with people that we really love and at the same time visit beautiful places, eat good food and learn new things.
