It has been at least 4 months since I wrote about my first trimester here on the blog and today I’m updating you guys on my pregnancy. I actually was planning to write a separate post about my second trimester and then another one about my third trimester. But the fact is my second trimester was so calm that sometimes I didn’t even think I was pregnant. I felt like I didn’t have much to say about it, which was a good think I guess. So, I decided to write both together.
So, as I said above, my second trimester was wonderful. I didn’t feel tired AT ALL and all my energy was back. Remember I said on my first trimester I was feeling very tired that I wasn’t motivated to do anything? So, all this tiredness was gone. It is funny because this trimester was the point in my life that I worked the most. I was waking up almost every day at 5am to work on my blog (writing post, editing pictures, updating social media, answering emails) until 7:30am and then I got ready to go to work. I came home around 5:45pm and then I had to cook and clean my kitchen. Of course at the end of each day around 8pm I was really tired, but who wouldn’t be with this pace right? My husband helped me with the housework, but he also had to travel for working a few times. So, I had to be alone to take care of our home several times, which was totally fine for me.
This second trimester was fun because for the first time I could feel the baby moving. This was such an incredible experience. I have to say that at first I thought it was so weird. But minutes later I got used to it and I started to enjoy feeling his movements because it is incredible to feel a human being growing inside of you. What a miracle! For me, this is for sure the most exciting moment of the pregnancy. I started to wonder what he was doing in there and this was the moment that I also started to talk more with him. I put songs and I read Portuguese stories to him, because I want him to learn my first language too.
This is not only an exciting moment for the mother but for the father (partner) too because they start to really feel the baby moving when they touch our bellies. Pierre loves to feel his movements. At first, he freaked out. It was so funny to watch his face expressions when he felt it for the first time. He said: Holy @#$% hahahhahahah! I remember like was yesterday. I laughed so much. He was really impressed. He is always rubbing my belly and playing with the baby, which bring me so much joy.
Another great moment of the second trimester was to find out the gender of the baby. As I said on the other post I was sure my baby was a boy because I had a dream with him before getting pregnant. On my week 20 we went to do an ultra-sound and my suspicions was confirmed. We are having a boy. This is funny because I always want to have a boy. I was so happy when we found out. And after knowing the gender we start to prepare the things for the nursery. My husband painted the walls and we did together some DIY crafts for our baby. It was very fun!
I have to say that this was the best trimester of my pregnancy. I loved this period because people start to notice you are pregnant, everybody is happy for your pregnancy, you watch your belly growing much more. All your worries about “is everything ok with my baby” is gone, you feel all the first kicks and you don’t feel the tired and the morning sickness is gone. However, I can’t say the same thing about my third trimester.
As everybody was telling me the third trimester has not been easy at all. I have only 2 or 3 more weeks to go, but this part of my pregnancy has been a little challenging. My body is slowing down more and more everyday, which is totally natural. I am not sleeping very well because I have to go several times during the night to the bathroom and because I have heartburn. I am eating more frequent, smaller meals, avoiding greasy food, acidic food and eating 2 hours before going to the bed. But to be honest it is not working very well since hormones provoke the heartburn during pregnancy. So, as a result I’m not sleeping deeply, which make me feel tired during the day. I am walking as much as I can and sometimes I go to the pool to swim a little bit. We all know that exercises give us more energy and that’s why I am doing that.
Now that I am on my maternity leave I am using this time to get ready for the baby and enjoy some time for myself. I am also cooking and freezing some food. It will help me during the first weeks after my baby arrives. I am also waiting for my mom that is coming from Brazil in two weeks. It`s been about 7 months sunce I’ve seen her so I am super excited to give her a huge hug and to show her my pregnancy belly.
My feelings at this stage is a mix of worry because it is all new for me and I don’t really know what to expect and excitement because I am getting closer to finally meet my little baby boy. I know I was complaining a little bit about the third trimester symptoms, but actually I shouldn’t because I had a very good, calm and relaxing pregnancy. I didn’t have any big complication and my baby is very healthy, which is the most important thing. His little nursery is all ready just waiting for him. I had such a fun time organizing everything. His closet is also all done. I washed all his little and cute clothes with this awesome hypoallergenic and fragrance free laundry detergent pods for babies and all is ironed too. I took one day to do all these things, but I had a blast.
It is so wonderful to prepare all that for someone that you didn’t even meet before, but you already love. I don’t know what to expect after the birth of my baby, however I know that what we all need to be a good parent is, LOVE. And this I know I have a lot. I am blessed because I have lots of support from people that love me like my husband, my mom and my in-laws. I know I won’t be alone and everything will be alright.
Thanks for taking your time to visit my blog. You guys are the best 😉
Ps: When I took these pictures I was 7 months. Thanks to my dear photographer Melissa!
