if you’re craving something that’s creamy, bright, and totally fuss-free, you’ve got to try this avocado sauce. One ripe avocado, a splash of olive oil, a bit of garlic and tangy lime, and a handful of fresh herbs, blended until silky smooth. It’s like a hug in sauce form: cool and dreamy on salads, veggies, tacos, or roasted fish. Trust me, once you make this you’ll want to drizzle it on everything.

Olivia’s Personal Note
Growing up in Brazil, I only ate avocados in smoothies or desserts, that’s just how we do it there! So when I moved to Canada and realized people were putting avocado in salads and savory dishes, I thought it was so strange. For the first three years, I stuck to my smoothies and refused to try anything else.
But then one day, after seeing all those beautiful avocado recipes online, I finally gave in… and wow. I fell completely in love.
Now I eat avocado on everything like salads, salsas, sauces. You name it. Even when I go back to Brazil, I eat it with eggs for breakfast and my family just stares at me like I’ve lost it. 😂 Culture is funny like that, right?
Lately, I’ve been eating a ton of avocado and homemade guacamole, so I decided to try something different and make this sauce and oh my goodness… it’s so good. Like, finger-licking good. Trust me when I say this sauce is AMAZING!
Key Ingredients:
Avocado — I always use one ripe avocado (halved, seeded, and peeled). I’ve tested this sauce with both slightly firm and very soft avocados, and a perfectly ripe one gives the creamiest, dreamiest texture.
Fresh Parsley — I’ve tried this recipe with fresh cilantro too and it works, but parsley keeps the flavor bright and mild. A small handful of freshly chopped parsley works beautifully.
Olive Oil — I’ve blended this sauce with different oils, and olive oil always gives the best richness and smooth consistency.
Garlic — Just one small clove is all you need. I’ve tested using more, but it can easily overpower the delicate avocado flavor. So one clove is the sweet spot.
Fresh Lime Juice — I’ve made this sauce with lemon juice too, but lime adds that perfect tang and keeps the color bright. Freshly squeezed makes a big difference. I’ve tested both and the fresh one wins every time.
How to Make Creamy Avocado Sauce

1. You’ve got all the good stuff tossed right into the blender or food processor: that perfectly ripe avocado, a handful of fresh parsley, a clove of garlic, a squeeze of lime, salt, pepper… all the things that make this sauce so bright and creamy.

2. After just a quick blend, it turns into this gorgeous, silky green sauce that looks like something you’d get at a fancy café. It’s smooth, dreamy, and honestly, it’s wild how something this delicious comes together in like 30 seconds.
Ways to Use Creamy Avocado Sauce
This creamy sauce is one of those magical little recipes you’ll want to put on absolutely everything.
Drizzle it over tacos, nachos, quesadillas, grain bowls, or salads for a fresh, velvety finish, or spoon it on top of veggies like this cauliflower salad, air fryer sweet potatoes fries, or broccoli for an instant flavor upgrade.
It also makes an amazing dipping sauce for raw veggies and tortilla chips, a delicious spread for sandwiches, wraps and burgers, and the perfect creamy topping for grilled chicken thighs, steak bites, or salmon patties.
You can even use it at breakfast. Think scrambled eggs, breakfast burritos, or roasted potatoes. Once you start, you’ll find endless ways to enjoy it!

Creamy Avocado Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 avocado halved, seeded and peeled
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley leaves
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small garlic clove
- 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a food processor, add all the ingredients. and process until smooth. Taste and adjust seasoning. Use this sauce on top of salads, roasted veggies, fish, chicken and veggie noodles. Enjoy!
Notes
- You can use a blender instead of a food processor if you do not have a food processor.
- If you do not have parsley, you can use any fresh herbs such as cilantro or basil. The flavor will change a bit but it’ll still be tasty.
- To store: To store this creamy avocado sauce, just transfer it to an airtight container and smooth the top with a spoon. Press a small piece of plastic wrap directly onto the surface before sealing the lid. This helps keep it from browning. It will stay fresh in the fridge for about 2 to 3 days. If it thickens a bit, just stir in a splash of water or lime juice to bring it back to its silky, pourable texture.

This was soooooo yummy! I I’ve made this sauce a couple of times now; it was fantastic. I used it as a dip with Beanitos chips as I needed a snack while on an elimination cleanse from milk products. The sauce is so creamy and delicious I didn’t miss sour cream, etc at all. It makes a large batch therefore I usually freeze half of it in a ziplock bag. It freezes beautifully!
Wow so happy to hear that 😉 This is really a great sauce if you want to avoid dairy based sauces!
AMAZEBALLS!!!! (as a bunch of my friends would say). 🙂
This sauce is exactly what I was looking for to replace the cheese and sour cream I’m missing on my taco stuffed baked potatoes.
You are a GENIUS!! Thank you. 🙂
You’re very welcome! So happy you like it. I use it all the time to replace sour cream on my tacos too 😉
Great sauce! This is essentially my recipe for a quick guac except I use cilantro instead of parsley and keep it more chunky when I’m too lazy to break out the food procesor!
Just a tip for storage that I use for guac to keep it fresh. I know that plastic wrap isn’t great for the environment so I use it very sparingly. In this case, I press it down on top of the guac so that it’s fully touching before I put the cover to the container on. This way, no air can get to it and it stays fresher (green!) much longer. I’ve had guac stay fresh for a week this way. This worked for this sauce too.
Great tip. Thank you so much. I will try this next time 😉
Love this sauce, especially on broccoli slaw! Definitely give it a try!
You’ll love it!
