How To Make Yogurt Parfait
Ingredients
- Greek yogurt — I recommend using a good-quality Greek yogurt as it is the base of the entire yogurt parfait. If your yogurt does not taste good, then your parfait may not taste good! I prefer use the whole milk plain Greek yogurt because of the flavor and the thicker consistency.
- Berries — skip frozen berries for this parfait. You want fresh berries for the texture such as strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries. Frozen berries will also bleed their color into your yogurt parfait, so it won’t look as pretty. If you’re not a fun of berries, you can use other fresh fruits like mango, apple and bananas
- Granola — I use a keto granola with some walnuts, pecans and chia seeds. It’s a delicious crunchy granola, but you can use whatever granola you prefer.
- Honey — I use a drizzle of honey, but you can also use maple syrup for added sweetness. If you don’t want to add any extra sweetness to the yogurt parfait, feel free to skip the honey and just add a little bit of natural peanut butter.
- Mint leaves — As a beautiful garnish and delightful minty scent, I top off the yogurt parfait with some mint leaves. Feel free to skip it if you prefer not to get any.
Optional: add some mini chocolate chips too! So good!
Instructions
- In a glass or mason jar, place half of the yogurt at the bottom of the glass.
- Then, add half of the berries and half of the granola.
- Cover them with the rest of the yogurt and top it off with the rest of the berries and granola.
- If you desire, drizzle honey or maple on top of the parfait and garnish with fresh mint leaves before serving.
Key Tip
Worried about the granola being soggy? Hold off on them and add them last on the top of the yogut parfait.
Storage Tips
- It’s best to eat this parfait right away. However, you can keep this in the fridge for 1 to 2 days.
- The layers may mix together as it sits in the fridge, so you can add the fruit to the bottom if you’re worried about them sinking.
- Make sure you store them in airtight containers, so they do not taste stale or pick up on the scents in the fridge.
Are Yogurt Parfaits Healthy?
It depends on what ingredients you add to the yogurt! Greek yogurt is healthy but make sure to read the ingredients label. You do not want to get an overly processed yogurt that is full of sugar! Greek yogurt is loaded with protein, calcium, and probiotics!
Fresh berries are naturally healthy, and it’s up to you on the type of granola used. Again, check the label to avoid filler ingredients or added sugar.
What Is The Best Yogurt To Make Parfaits With?
I like using Greek yogurt as it’s thick and will hold up the berries and granola. You can also use flavoured yogurt for a different taste such as coconut yogurt, vanilla yogurt, berry yogurt, and more.
More Tips
- For a sweeter treat, you can add a sprinkle of chocolate chips to the parfait.
- When assembling the parfaits, you can wipe any yogurt smears with a damp cloth to avoid a messy looking parfait.
- Make sure you use ripe berries. If they are not sweet enough, add extra honey to help them taste sweeter.
- Always wash and pat dry the berries before using. This will make sure you don’t add extra moisture to the yogurt.
- If your granola is chunky, make sure to break it up before adding them on top of the berries. This will make sure they’re spread evenly across the parfait.
- The colourful layers of fruit, yogurt, and granola are the main star of the show. Use clear cups, so your guests can see all the beautiful layers!
