Anyone who knows me knows how much I love fish, especially salmon! You can find SO many salmon recipes here on the blog, because I cook it al the time. I could eat salmon for every meal and be perfectly happy.

This recipe is hands down one of my favorites. I love the combination of the Dijon mustard and maple syrup in the glaze. Then, the garlic and fresh thyme add another layer of flavor. All the elements of this dish work so well together!

Key Ingredients Needed

  • Salmon fillets — You can either buy pre-cut fillets or one large fillet. I’ve also made this recipe with frozen salmon all the time and it works just as well as fresh salmon. Just be sure to thaw it completely in the fridge first, and then remove the extra moisture with a paper towel.
  • Maple syrup — Please use pure maple syrup. Its rich, natural flavor is much better than the artificial taste of corn syrup pancake syrups. It adds a deep, caramel-like sweetness that enhances the dish beautifully.
  • Dijon mustard — I use a smooth Dijon mustard here, but I’ve tested this recipe with whole grain Dijon mustard and it works just as good.

Opcional: I keep it simple with just kosher salt and pepper, but you can season the salmon however you like! Great with fresh dill or dried spices like paprika, cayenne pepper and onion powder.

Pre-measured ingredients in small bowls on a cutting board and white countertop.

Instructions To Make Maple Mustard Salmon

  • First, preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Whisk the sauce ingredients together in a small bowl. You can also make it ahead of time and keep it in the fridge for a couple of weeks. I store it in a mason jar and give it a good shake before using.
  • Place salmon filet (skin side down) on the baking sheet. I like to leave the skin on, but if you prefer, remove it.
Left: glaze ingredients in a bowl. Right: glaze mixed together.
  • Generously coat the pieces of salmon with the maple Dijon glaze.
  • Then, bake the salmon for 15 to 20 minutes. Salmon is cooked when it flakes easily with a fork.
Left: unbaked salmon brushed with glaze. Right: baked salmon on parchment paper.
  • Once they’re done, garnish your glazed salmon with lemon wedges and fresh time.

What To Serve With:

This easy chopped salmon salad is my favorite way to enjoy this recipe with also this delicious sweet potatoes. This is also great with air fryer broccoli, roasted brussels sprouts, or easy roasted vegetables.

Other great grain side dishes for this recipe is fluffy rice and quinoa salad. I also love to serve it with couscous salad.

I am on the same dang page as you! I love all things seafood, particularly salmon, and could care less about red meat! Also a huuuuge fan of mustard on my salmon – I slathered mustard on my salmon last night for dinner but your maple-y sauce sounds like such a win! This’ll definitely go down for my next round of salmon!
